Responsibilities Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Production Manager is responsible for effectively planning, directing and coordinating activities and business processes.
These activities include safe operations to achieve on-time-delivery, productivity programs and staffing that ensure profitability & production targets are met.
Ensures our operations are safe.
Ensures that the facility and all associates operate in a safe and environmentally responsible manner in accordance with all applicable company local, state and federal requirements.
Sets Standards for housekeeping, establish an oversight process to sustain standards and holds self and all employees and drive for Continuous Improvement using tools such a 5S.
Exhibits superior leadership by motivating subordinates to achieve excellent performance levels even through unexpecte occurrences and setbacks.
Has a keen focus on culture where employees want to come to work.
A stable workforce is essential to success and the Production Manager needs to set the tone to ensure Supervisors (and others) are creating a motivational, accountable culture.
Works to create a desirable work environment enabling successful recruitment Develops employees through training, involvement programs and other programs to create a strong team environment.
Plans production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products.
Is responsible for overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of production, scheduling, and shipping/receiving, and.
Prepares operational schedules and coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meets specifications.
Must work effectively with Commercial, R&D and other counterparts.
Develops or revises standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with the standards.
Through collaboration with the Maintenance Manager, ensures machines and equipment are optimal to achieve operational performance and optimum utilization.
Drives a preventative maintenance culture.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Ensures standards for product quality, equipment and operator performance are maintained.
Must be focused o operational excellence and forward looking projects that make continuous improvements at the location.
Maintains comprehensive knowledge of the products, equipment, and processes within the facility.
Identifies continuous improvement opportunities aligned with the plant goals and engages resources in production and throughout the location to design and implement changes to leverage the opportunities.
Other projects and duties as assigned.
Desired Experience, Competencies and Physical Requirements 10 years relevant manufacturing industry experience in polymer compounding or materials processing is strongly desired.
Experience leading in a 24 x5 hour production environment is important.
Must be a motivational leader who can create a culture of excellence and accountability where employees want to come to work.
Demonstrated planning experience and demonstrated safety excellence with a strong data management, metric & results driven approach is essential.
Lean or Six Sigma demonstrated competency is preferred.
Working independently, being customer centric and having collaboration and strong communication skills (both written and verbal) with advanced critical thinking, problem solving skills and team leadership are key competencies.
Ability to use ERP systems and Microsoft Office programs effectively is critical.
Continuous Improvement skills and experience is essential.
While performing duties, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear.
The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and climb or balance.
The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
While performing duties, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and non-hazardous fumes or airborne particles along with higher ambient heat conditions (some areas not climate controlled).
High School diploma required.
Post Secondary Degree or coursework preferred.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
